The Training Office for Maritime Studies, also known as Maritim Opplæring nordvest, was established in 1996 and has its main focus on professional education within maritime occupations. The office covers the counties of Trøndelag, Møre and Romsdal as well as the northern part of Vestland. With a wide range of professional areas, they offer education for sailors, ship engine mechanics, maritime electricians, as well as several other professions related to shipping and maritime operations.
The center aims to attract young people to maritime professions, which are characterized by technological development and an increasing focus on environmentally friendly operations. Norway, as a leading maritime nation, gives apprentices the opportunity to gain global experience during their apprenticeship. There is a great need for apprentices in the maritime industry, and personal motivation is considered an important factor for success in the profession at sea. The Training Office for Maritime Studies collaborates with shipping companies and companies from across the region to ensure relevant training and internships for its apprentices.
