Alta Church Council/Congregation is part of the Church of Norway and functions as a church council for the congregations in Alta. The Council offers a range of services, including baptisms, weddings, confirmations and funerals. In addition to the traditional church services, they facilitate activities such as Wednesday dinner for all generations, where there are also activities for children. The dinner is served in collaboration with Alta Folk High School.
The congregation also has a focus on diaconal work and volunteer opportunities, which gives residents the chance to get involved in the local community. There are meeting places for children and young people, and the congregation magazine provides information about various activities and events. The Northern Lights Cathedral serves as a central gathering place for the congregation and is an important element of church life in Alta.
