Children of the Earth is an organization that originated in Alta and was initiated by the author Simon Flem Devold in 1987. The organization aims to promote cooperation between children from different parts of the world, and has been involved in several international humanitarian projects. Since 2010, they have awarded an annual prize for the benefit of children, with an amount that has now been increased to 150,000 kroner. The prize is awarded to candidates who have made a significant contribution to children in need, and the nomination process is open to everyone.
Outside the Nordkapphallen, visitors can see seven large bronze reliefs that are part of the organization's art projects. These reliefs represent the participation of children from different parts of the world and help to highlight the organization's work and commitment to children. Through its activities and projects, Children of the Earth seeks to create a platform for artistic expression and cooperation, while also focusing on important humanitarian issues.
