Møllendal Graveyard, inaugurated on 7 September 1874, is Bergen's largest cemetery and has a significant capacity of 15,491 coffin graves and 10,596 urn graves. The cemetery has undergone several expansions and reuse of existing areas to meet the needs of its residents. In 2022, a memorial garden with 638 graves was opened, as well as five memorials, providing a place for reflection and remembrance.
The cemetery also has two anonymous urn fields and a separate field for the Commonwealth war graves, which contributes to its historical and cultural significance. A historical avenue in the area allows visitors to experience the cemetery's history and architecture. In connection with the 2017 World Cycling Championships in Bergen, a fact sheet was prepared that provides further information about the cemetery's history and significance. Møllendal Graveyard will mark its 150th anniversary on 7 September 2024.
