Bergen Shipowners' Association, founded in 1899, is Norway's oldest shipping association and functions as a branch of the Norwegian Shipowners' Association for the regions of Bergen, Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane. The association has approximately 80 member companies that participate in regular meetings for professional discussions and social gatherings. This gives members the opportunity to share experiences and discuss current topics within shipping.
The association has a particular focus on shipping's environmental vision and sustainability, and organizes various activities such as Bergen Shipping Voyage 2026. In addition to member meetings, which address relevant topics such as China's influence on the shipping sector, Bergen Shipowners' Association also offers a senior club for retired members. The association hosts the Bergen International Shipping Conference and has developed a podcast that highlights the association's history and activities. In 2024, they will celebrate their 125th anniversary, which marks an important milestone in the association's long history.
