Åsane Old Church was built in 1795, but the church site has a history that can be traced back to the Middle Ages. It previously functioned as a chapel under Hamre parish before being separated as a separate annex parish in 1871. In 1956 the church became a separate parish. Its location is central in Åsane, close to the old postal road connecting Bergen with Trondheim.
The church is automatically listed as a protected building, which emphasizes its historical significance. Inside, Åsane Old Church has several interesting interior elements, including stained glass windows and a pulpit. The cemetery attached to the church also has its own history and is part of the overall cultural heritage.
