Hindu Sabha Bergen is a Hindu temple that was officially registered as a religious community in 1990. The temple complex, which was inaugurated in 2004, is located in the former cinema hall in Fanahallen on Minde. The temple is dedicated to the god Ganesha and has an employed Hindu priest from Sri Lanka, who contributes to the religious activities and ceremonies that take place.
With approximately 830 members, Hindu Sabha Bergen represents a diverse group from Sri Lanka, India, Nepal and Bangladesh. The temple has its roots in a historical background with religious gatherings that previously took place in private homes. The increase in Hindus in Norway in the 1980s, especially as a result of the civil war in Sri Lanka, has contributed to the development of this religious community and its activities in Bergen.
