Eggstock Festival is a music festival that takes place in Bergen in early June. The festival has a long tradition and aims to celebrate the diversity of music by presenting different genres. It also serves as a springboard for young talents from Western Norway, and has an open age limit for participation. Each year, 20 young artists participate who book themselves in on a "first come, first served" basis.
The festival has a competitive format with two opening days and a final day, where ten of the participating bands perform. Past participants include well-known names such as Razika, Sondre Lerche, Hvitmalt Gjerde, Major Parkinson, Boy Pablo, Thea Hjelmeland, Silja Sol, Matiaz Tellez and Michelle Ullestad, all of whom have performed early in their careers. Winners of the festival, such as Irene and GiFU, have received recognition for their unique musical styles, and the festival gives participants the opportunity to win prizes from local partners, as well as studio time and gigs.
