Hilde Skjeggestad is an artist based in Bergen, known for her paintings that explore color as both a theme and a physical element. Her technique includes the use of very thin layers of color, which creates an almost invisible boundary between canvas and color. This gives the works a special depth and complexity, which can be experienced as dynamic upon closer inspection. Skjeggestad's work focuses on a fundamental complexity in simple shapes and small contrasts, which invites reflection and closer observation.
In addition to her paintings, Skjeggestad has an interest in making her works relational and inclusive, which can contribute to an interactive experience for the viewer. She has exhibited in the Visningsrommet USF, where installation photos of her work are available. Through her art, she also explores light and space, which gives an extra dimension to her visual expression.
