Kjell Johannessen runs an art gallery that opened in 1991 and has been showing exhibitions of his own work since 1995. The gallery is known for its unique sculptures, with a particular focus on ceramics. Johannessen's work is inspired by antiquity and the Baroque, which is reflected in his famous sculptural candlesticks, often referred to as "baroque candlesticks".
The workshop, which has been in operation since 1878, has been preserved in its original form and is located on Øvregaten, Bergen's oldest street. In addition to ceramics, Johannessen works with large formats in charcoal and ink, as well as silkscreen printing. The gallery offers an insight into his artistic process and development over the years.
