S/S Statraad Lehmkuhl is a three-masted barque rigged sailing training vessel, built in 1914 by Joh. Tecklenborg in Bremerhaven. The vessel was previously known as Grossherzog Friedrich August and has a history as a training ship for the German merchant navy. In 1921 it was purchased by Kristofer Lehmkuhl, and the vessel was given its current name in his honor.
Since 1945, S/S Statraad Lehmkuhl has been in active service and is known for its ability to sail at speeds of up to 17 knots under sail. In 2019, the vessel was upgraded to hybrid power, which includes a 370 kWh battery bank. This allows the vessel to combine traditional sailing with modern technology, contributing to a more sustainable operation.
