Frilager Bergen og omegn is a self-storage facility that offers loans of hiking equipment to hiking groups. Since 2024, they have stored and maintained equipment from some of Bergen's largest hiking operators. The facility covers a wide geographical area, with equipment delivery from Bjørnafjorden in the south to Alver in the north. This helps to reduce the pressure on equipment for children and young people, and simplifies trip arrangements for volunteers and teachers.
Frilager aims to facilitate the opportunity for everyone to participate in outdoor activities. This is achieved through collaboration with voluntary organizations, which contribute to a joint team to ensure availability of necessary equipment. The facility has a non-economic purpose and focuses on sharing and access to activity equipment, which creates safety, mastery and positive experiences for users. Frilager thus contributes to promoting outdoor life and activity in the local community.
