Bergen's Technical Museum is located in the listed old Tram Stables at Thormhøhlensgate 23 in Møhlenpris. The building, designed by Schak Bull in 1913, houses a number of exhibitions focusing on historic vehicles and trams. The museum, which opened in 1990, is part of the technical collections in Bergen and is run by several voluntary organisations. Its nearest neighbour is the Tram City, which was formerly housing for tram workers.
The museum has a special focus on the development of mobility and communication, with collections that include the tram line from 1911 to the city centre. Visitors can experience a working steam engine as part of the living cultural heritage, as well as a working printing house demonstrating traditional printing methods. Interactive experiences provide insight into the past, making the museum attractive to both technology enthusiasts and nostalgics. The museum is closed for the winter until the season opens on 14 April 2024.
