Gamle Bergen Museum, also known as the City Museum in Bergen, is an open-air museum that gives visitors an authentic experience of life in Bergen in the 19th century. The museum consists of 55 restored wooden houses from the center of Bergen, which together create a historic atmosphere. Visitors can explore the alleys and buildings, as well as see actors performing plays and bringing history from this period to life.
In addition to the historic buildings, Gamle Bergen Museum offers a cozy café in the Repslagerhuset, where guests can enjoy food and drink. The museum also has activities for children during the summer months, making it a family-friendly destination. The area around the museum offers opportunities for walks and swimming, and transport is available with the Beffen, a traditional boat, to and from the museum.
