The Norwegian Band Federation is Norway's largest voluntary cultural organization, with nearly 60,000 members. The organization is responsible for over 1,600 bands, including school bands, youth and adult bands. It offers courses and training for both drill instructors and musicians, and aims to strengthen bands in Norway through professional quality and targeted work.
The federation also organizes competitions such as the Nordnorsk Championships and Steinkjerspæll, which give bands the opportunity to showcase their skills. To support band operations, they have developed a digital platform called Tutti. With over 8,600 volunteers, including conductors and instructors, the organization contributes to an active and committed music community. It is worth noting that 267 bands have been active for over 100 years, which testifies to a long-standing tradition in Norwegian music.
