The Kontor Harmonien Foundation is affiliated with one of the world’s oldest orchestras, founded in 1765. The orchestra has a rich history and celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2015. Edvard Grieg, one of Norway’s most famous composers, served as artistic director from 1880 to 1882, which helped shape the orchestra’s profile and repertoire.
The foundation offers a varied program of classical works by famous composers such as Mahler, Mozart and Wagner. To make the music accessible to a wider audience, they offer free online concert streaming through BergenPhilLive. In addition, they engage young musicians through the BFUng program and organize concerts specifically tailored to children and young people.
