The court also has permanent offices and court premises in Stavanger and Haugesund, making it accessible to a wider population in the region. In addition to the permanent premises, the court has the opportunity to sit elsewhere in the court district as needed, which contributes to flexibility in court proceedings.

It hears appeals against judgments from district courts and thus has a central function in the legal process. The Gulating Court of Appeal is therefore an important institution for maintaining law and order in the region.
