The Bergen House of Literature is an arena for literature, public discourse and cultural experiences. The house opened on 31 January 2013 and functions as a non-profit foundation with the aim of promoting interest in literature and reading, as well as stimulating debate on current social issues. The House of Literature offers a varied programme of literary events, including reading circles, debates and hosting LitFestBergen, a literature festival that focuses on both Norwegian and international literature.
In addition to the events, the House of Literature in Bergen has facilities for renting out rooms for both private and public events. The house contains five meeting rooms, an auditorium, a podcast studio, a bookstore, as well as a café and brasserie. The book salon offers a wide selection of books, and the house functions as a meeting place for both young and old. The House of Literature also has a podcast with literary themes, which helps to expand the range of cultural experiences.
