Drug-Free Upbringing is an organization based in Bergen that works to improve the conditions for children and young people to grow up. Since 1907, they have focused on creating safe and empathetic adults who can contribute to the healthy development of young people. The organization collaborates with schools, kindergartens and colleges to implement drug prevention measures and promote drug-free alternatives as attractive choices for children and young people.
An important aspect of Drug-Free Upbringing is the volunteer commitment, which constitutes a central resource in the work. In Norway, it is estimated that approximately 90,000 children and young people are relatives of drug users, which emphasizes the need for measures that can support them. The societal costs associated with alcohol consumption are estimated at between 80 and 100 billion kroner, which further highlights the importance of the organization's work for a drug-free upbringing.
