The Hagelin Sisters was established in 1929 by sisters Elna and Gudrun Hagelin and has since then specialized in homemade fish food. The restaurant's menu includes a varied selection of dishes, such as fish cakes, fish soups, fish pudding and fish wraps, all made with fresh haddock fillet and traditional recipes. One of the highlights of the restaurant's history is that fish cakes were sent to King Olav during his visit to Bergen, which helped to make the place famous far beyond the city's borders.
