Hordaland Vocational School, also known as Vestland Vocational School, is a public vocational school with a focus on higher vocational education. The school is the largest of its kind in Norway, with over 1,700 students and approximately 170 employees. The education offered is short and vocational, and is based on a trade or journeyman's certificate, or relevant work experience. The vocational school has a varied study programme that covers several subject areas, including maritime, marine, technical, petroleum engineering, green and health sciences.
The main administration as well as the technical and health education programmes are located at the Nordnes campus in Bergen. The vocational school offers education programmes that provide competence that is in demand in the working world, with the possibility of admission outside the ordinary application deadline. Among the education programmes are captain, valuation engineer and energy advisor, as well as vocational school programmes in construction, health, marine, mechanical and robotics.
