The Faculty of Art, Music and Design is an academic department that offers research-based education at bachelor's, master's and PhD levels. The faculty aims to educate future artists, designers, musicians and educators, and brings together leading academic communities within the aforementioned disciplines. With around 700 students and 190 employees, the faculty is a significant player in higher education in Bergen.
The faculty is organized into three departments: the Academy of Fine Arts, the Grieg Academy and the Department of Design. Each of these departments focuses on different aspects of art, music and design, and contributes to a varied and dynamic learning environment. In addition to education, the faculty includes fellows affiliated with PhD programs that deal with artistic development work and scientific research. The faculty also collaborates with relevant institutions both locally and internationally, which strengthens the academic network and opportunities for students.
