The Holberg Prize, also known as The Holberg Prize, is an educational institution established by the Storting on 1 July 2003. The prize was first awarded in 2004, and aims to raise awareness of the value of academic research in the arts, humanities, social sciences, law and theology. The Holberg Prize has a monetary value of NOK and is named after the Danish-Norwegian author Ludvig Holberg, who was a prominent figure in the sciences covered by the prize.

The institution is responsible for the annual awarding of the Holberg Prize and the Nils Klim Prize, which honor outstanding researchers. In addition, the Holberg Debate is organized, where current topics such as collective security are discussed. The Holberg School Program is a research competition aimed at upper secondary schools, and emphasis is placed on the participation of renowned academics and public intellectuals in various events. Through its work, the Holberg Prize focuses on interdisciplinary perspectives and has a historical significance for promoting research and education.
