Det Nyttige Selskab was founded in 1774 and has since then aimed to support and develop the local community in Bergen. The society organizes various activities, including an autumn party with themes related to drinking and drinking customs, as well as a general meeting followed by a summer party. These events give members the opportunity to gather and share experiences.
In addition to festivities, Det Nyttige Selskab offers city walks led by local experts, which give participants insight into Bergen's history and culture. The society is also involved in local projects, such as Landås Lystgård and the development of new urban space in Dokkeveien.
