Nordnorsk Jazzsenter is a regional production and competence center for jazz in Northern Norway, located in Bodø. The center offers dissemination and in-house production of jazz-related activities, and collaborates with jazz clubs and festivals in the region. It also organizes gatherings of musicians for project development, and aims to support the development of the jazz environment in Northern Norway.
The center houses talented artists, including Lisa Dillan and Benjamin Mørk, and offers support schemes for organizers and recording projects. Nordnorsk Ungdomsstorband is part of the center's offer, and gives young musicians the opportunity to develop in jazz. In addition, the center has been involved in critically acclaimed works such as "Kaipu", which have toured in summer festivals.
Nordnorsk Jazzsenter is part of the Norwegian Jazz Forum, which was founded in 1953 and represents the Norwegian jazz community. The organization comprises 25 jazz festivals, 83 jazz clubs, 129 big bands, 682 professional musicians, 96 jazz students and five regional jazz centres, including the Nordnorsk Jazz Centre.
