The Old Drammen Fire Station, also known as Sprøitehuset in Gropa, is a listed building that houses an intermunicipal fire department with responsibility for several municipalities. The building is part of a fire department that has an emergency department with crews ready to respond. In total, there are approximately 160 employees, of which 62 constitute a full-time force distributed across various fire stations.
The fire department also has a part-time force of approximately 95 crews who work in various shift arrangements. There are fire stations in Drammen, Mjøndalen and several local stations, which contributes to effective emergency preparedness in Norway's 7th largest municipality by population. The focus of the fire department is the rescue and protection of life, the environment and assets.
