《Thermal Time Project》, also known as the Granite Wheel, is a sculpture located in Drammen. The artwork is a three-part decoration that includes a sculpture, pressure plates and frames. The sculpture is designed to record temperature changes over a calendar year, and consists of a metal rod placed on granite blocks that react to temperature fluctuations.
The rotating wheel with a steel tip scratches copper plates, which are part of the building's facade, and documents temperature variations over time. In the vestibule, there are seven frames that are filled with annual data over seven years, which provides a visual representation of temperature changes. In addition, the artwork offers an interactive experience using augmented reality (AR), which gives visitors the opportunity to engage with the artwork in a new way. The artist behind the project is Gunnar H. Gundersen.
