Østfold Waste Sorting IKS is an intermunicipal company that is being established, and aims to improve waste management in the region. The company collaborates with the municipalities of Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg, Halden, Rakkestad and Hvaler to develop effective solutions for waste sorting and material recycling. One of the main projects is the construction of a secondary sorting facility at Viken Park, which will receive household waste from the municipalities involved.
The company has a strong focus on good material recycling and develops prototypes for waste management. In addition, Østfold Waste Sorting carries out waste analyses in the Østfold municipalities to map waste quantities and types, which can contribute to better resource utilization and environmentally friendly solutions in the future.
