The Victoria statue on Bietorvet in Grimstad is a tourist attraction that pays tribute to the author Knut Hamsun and his works. The statue, created by artist Nina Sundbye, is inspired by Hamsun's novel "Victoria" and was unveiled in 2009. Near the statue, visitors can explore several places in Grimstad that are associated with Hamsun, without the need for a guide.
The area includes Hamsun's footpaths, which lead to significant places such as "Brevkortet", a route from the old Grimstad hospital to the mailbox. Visitors can also follow the route to "Edens havn", a place where Hamsun often walked during his stay in the hospital. The Old Grimstad hospital, where Hamsun was arrested in 1945, is also part of this historical walk.
