The Ibsen Museum in Grimstad is dedicated to the life and works of playwright Henrik Ibsen. The museum is located in the pharmacy building where Ibsen wrote his first play, "Catilina". Visitors can explore exhibitions that highlight his development from his youth in Grimstad to his later literary career. The museum also offers guided tours that provide insight into Ibsen's friendships, romances and challenges.
One of the unique attractions at the museum is Ibsen's herb garden, which contains 80 different varieties of rhubarb. In addition to the physical exhibitions, it is possible to experience the museum digitally, which gives a modern twist to the communication of Ibsen's legacy. Ibsen Museum is part of the Aust-Agder Museum and Archives IKS, and aims to highlight the county's historical and cultural significance.
