Åkerholmen kindergarten is a parent-owned kindergarten with three departments, located in Halden. The kindergarten is open all year round, which means that it is available to children all twelve months of the year. As a private kindergarten, it is owned and run by the parents, and the kindergarten place gives a share in the cooperative. A participation deposit is required, which is refunded upon termination of the place.
The kindergarten is subject to the Cooperatives Act and has drawn up statutes for both the cooperative and the kindergarten. Åkerholmen kindergarten has a vision to create a community characterized by security, joy, care and recognition, where all children experience themselves as unique and valuable. The kindergarten's focus area is social competence, with a focus on developing the ability to interact with each other in a good way, and emphasis is placed on seeing each child in their unique situation.
