Rødsparken, also known as Red Manor, is a historic site with over three hundred years of history, located in Halden. The park is one of Norway's largest and best-preserved pleasure gardens, and has undergone several renovations since it was built. It contains a number of interesting features, including a bear cave, a hermit's hut and an octagonal pavilion from 1756.
The garden at Rød is laid out in a park-like manner and extends down towards the sea, with fertile soil that was originally brought from England as ballast for sailing ships. Although the garden has been simplified in recent times, there are still about 30 different garden roses, which are placed against the south wall of the main building and along the axis towards the garden pavilion. Rødsparken also houses the administration of Halden Historiske Samlinger and offers guided tours with a focus on cultural history, as well as various events and activities throughout the year.
