Hamar Prison has a capacity of 31 places, of which three of the cells are double cells. The prison operates at a lower security level than many other prisons in Norway, making it a suitable institution for serving shorter sentences, up to two years.
The prison offers a range of services that focus on rehabilitation and coping. This includes restorative processes and health services, as well as program activities that aim to support inmates in their rehabilitation. In addition, there are opportunities for leave and parole, and there are substance abuse control and addiction treatment units available for those who need it.
