The Prison Service Innlandet plays a central role in the rehabilitation and supervision of prisoners in the region. With permanent staff in Hamar, Gjøvik, Kongsvinger and Lillehammer, as well as a presence in Elverum and Tynset as needed, they ensure continuous follow-up of prisoners. The organization offers a number of services that include health services, rehabilitation programs, as well as substance abuse control and substance abuse treatment units.
In addition to the rehabilitative measures, the Prison Service Innlandet facilitates restorative processes and provides opportunities for leave. There is also a focus on taking care of the religious and spiritual needs of prisoners. Transfers to other prisons in Norway are part of their services, and they have established routines for visits, letters and telephone calls, which helps to maintain contact between prisoners and their relatives.
