The Haugesund Coastal Administration is a government agency responsible for safe and efficient traffic along the coast. The office works with national emergency preparedness against acute pollution and has a central role in the restructuring of maritime markings along the Norwegian coast in accordance with the guidelines from the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA). This work is important to ensure safe navigation for ships and boats.
In addition to its operational tasks, the Haugesund Coastal Administration offers digital services, such as ordering pilots. They also provide information about weather conditions that may affect traffic at sea. The office is involved in local fishing ports and participates in public meetings to strengthen cooperation with local communities. They also recruit pilot trainees to ensure the necessary expertise in maritime navigation and handle safety-threatening incidents in the waters.
