The Archive Foundation, known as ARKIVET, is a peace and human rights center located in central Kristiansand. The building has a historical background as the Gestapo headquarters during World War II, which gives the center a unique context for its activities. Since its inception in 2001, ARKIVET has focused on documentation, research, education and dissemination, with the goal of promoting understanding of human rights and peace.
The center offers guided tours and educational opportunities for schools, and has developed programs such as Dembra, which works to prevent prejudice and exclusion. In addition, ARKIVET has initiated the democracy project Blanke Ark, where art is used as a tool to promote active citizenship. The center also houses exhibitions, including works by Afghanistan's first female graffiti artist, and attracts many schoolchildren and groups who want to learn more about history and human rights.
The director of ARKIVET is Tina Sødal, who leads the center's work to create a platform for reflection and dialogue on important social issues.
