Dialekttempen AS, established in 1999, is a manufacturer of thermometers that capture funny words and expressions from different dialects in Norway. The company began its operations as KK Consult ANS, with the production of house numbers and street names in enamel. Towards the end of the same year, they expanded their production to include thermometers for the business sector, and thus Dialekttempen was born, with a focus on local expressions.
The company draws inspiration from all over the country and collaborates with local target groups and history groups to collect words and expressions that are disappearing. These expressions, which date back to before 1960, are used to describe the weather and capture the essence of the different dialects. Dialekttempen also offers the opportunity for customers to design their own thermometers, which gives a personal touch to the products. All thermometers are handmade in Kristiansand, which helps them to offer a completely Norwegian product.
