Geitmyra Kristiansand Food Culture Center for Children is a cultural and educational center that aims to teach children and young people about the joy of food and healthy eating. The center offers school lessons, leisure courses and open events, with a focus on sustainable cooking and farming. Geitmyra is known for its approach to seafood, and children have the opportunity to learn about fish and seafood through activities on the shore and at the fish market.
The center organizes various courses, including "junior chef", and gives participants the opportunity to cook for the government. In addition, Geitmyra promotes Sami food culture and uses local ingredients in its teaching. Through the Læringsrik mat project, the center works to improve the food offer at after-school care centers in the region, and contributes to public health by creating positive food experiences for children.
