Kristiansand International Children's Film Festival is Norway's largest cultural event for children and young people, and the only film festival of its kind for this target group. The festival is primarily aimed at children aged 6 to 13, but also includes films for the very youngest. The week before the main festival, Filmfest UNG is held, a separate program for young people from 14 years of age and up. The festival offers a varied program of feature films, short films and documentaries, with a focus on quality films from all over the world.
In addition to the film screenings, the festival gives young participants the opportunity to meet filmmakers from both Norway and abroad. The children's film festival also includes industry days for the film industry, as well as a Norwegian short film competition that provides the opportunity for Amanda nomination. The festival receives support from the Sør-fondet for touring activities, and there are opportunities for volunteer work for those who want to get involved in the event.
