NFEA, or the Norwegian Association for Electrical and Automation, is a non-profit membership association that was established in 2018 through the merger of NFA and Ifea. The association is politically independent and aims to promote the electrical and automation industry in Norway. It consists of over 300 members, including companies and educational and research institutions, all of whom are involved in the development, use or delivery of advanced technical solutions.
The association offers in-house courses in electrical engineering and automation, and organizes OPC Day Norway, which serves as an important meeting place for digitalization and secure data sharing. NFEA also actively participates in the Kraftgapet campaign, which aims to close the power gap in Norway, and supports field trips for students to industrial and research environments, for example in northern Italy. In addition, NFEA is the main sponsor of the Network Days at NTNU and has been involved in the development of autonomous racing cars in collaboration with NTNU.
The association works on network building, competence development and increased competitiveness for Norwegian industry, and has a particular focus on ensuring recruitment to higher education in technology and science.
