AS Nordland Teater, established in 1979, is based in Mo i Rana and has since its first public performance developed into a central player in the performing arts in Nordland. The theatre has a varied repertoire that includes both classic and modern pieces, as well as humorous revues with a slant on Christmas. Through their performances, they convey heartwarming and touching stories, as well as fairy tale theatre that promotes friendship and courage.
The theatre has a dedicated staff of 25 permanent employees and annually engages around 50 external talents, which gives them the opportunity to stage a wide range of productions for different age groups. Each year, Nordland Teater presents approximately 300 performances for around 30,000 audiences. The Winter Light Festival, which was established in 2001, is one of the most prominent cultural events in Norway, and contributes to the theatre's role as an important cultural mediator in the region.
