KoRus Nord, also known as Kompetansesenter Rus Nord-Norge, is a state office with a focus on improving competence in the field of substance abuse. The center offers education, guidance and mapping, and develops tailor-made programs for municipalities, county municipalities and the specialist health service. Through courses, conferences and professional days, they address various substance abuse-related topics, with the goal of strengthening knowledge and competence in the services.
The main target group for KoRus Nord is municipal employees in Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, but they also have tasks aimed at the specialist health service. The center functions as a "service for the services" and has a social mission that includes competence development in substance abuse prevention, early intervention, and follow-up and treatment of substance abuse problems. KoRus Nord is responsible for the operation and further development of the national online services forebygging.no and kommunetorget.no, and collaborates with other KoRus and competence environments in the region.
