University Hospital of North Norway Narvik is a local hospital serving Ofoten and parts of Midt-Troms. The hospital opened in the fall of 2024 and offers an integrated approach to healthcare by bringing together services for both physical and mental health, as well as substance abuse treatment, in one building. This provides patients with comprehensive treatment and follow-up.
The hospital has good accessibility, with a tunnel from the E6, known as the Furumo Tunnel, which provides easy access. Footpaths have also been established from Narvik Cemetery to the hospital, as well as a new public transport service with buses serving the hospital. For patients who need it, patient travel is arranged with advance appointment, which contributes to increased accessibility to treatment.
