🌧️ Bergen coworking spaces: harbour views and rainproof life hacks

It's nice to work in the ‘rainy capital’: surrounded by the harbour, close to Bybanen, and with good spaces offering everything from meeting rooms to coffee. Below is a short guide to three practical questions: which spaces are open late (and what about weekends), where can you find lockers/storage, and where can you go with a day pass without a long contract. Along the way, we'll give you a couple of ‘rainproof’ tips to help you stay as dry as possible between meetings.

🕕 Which spaces are open late?

If you need access after 6 p.m., check out network spaces and membership conditions:

  • Regus, Media City Bergen — in the famous cluster at Lars Hilles gate 30. Residents with a dedicated space/office have 24/7 access; day passes are valid during the centre's standard hours. It is easy to get there by Bybanen: the NygĂĽrd stop is right at the entrance.
  • Spaces, Media City Bergen — the same complex, classic open space and meeting rooms; usually open during the day on weekdays (check the specific date when booking). It is also close to Bybanen.

If you need ‘evening + weekend’ without membership, fall back on a network ‘hotel coworking’ — Scandic Coworking sells day/weekly/monthly passes and is a good backup option for Saturday–Sunday (you work in the lobby areas and quiet corners).

Rainy day life hack: plan your routes around the tram. Bybanen quickly connects the city centre and the airport; get off at Byparken/Nonneseter/Nygård — you'll get less wet between stops.

🔒 Are there lockers/storage facilities?

Yes, there are some. Spaces — Media City Bergen has lockers (convenient if you're carrying a camera bag). Check availability when booking — there may be limited availability.

If you need external storage in the city centre, use the Radical Storage or LuggageHero networks (lots of locations near the train station, market and bus station; daily/hourly rates). This is handy if you're checking in late and need to get to the coworking space.

🎟️ Can I come for a one-time visit?

Yes, and this is the easiest way to ‘work between the rain’:

  • Regus (Media City Bergen) — day pass/Day Coworking can be booked online, drop-in format. A day office is also available at the same location (you can book a separate room for the day). The exact price depends on the date and type of access; please refer to the centre's website for rates.
  • Spaces (Media City Bergen) — day visits are booked via a reservation form; this is essentially one-time access to the open space on weekdays.
  • Bergen.Works (Vestre Skostredet 2, near Torngatan) — a local space near the harbour; open on weekdays during the day (according to third-party directories, sometimes also on Saturdays; check the current opening hours before your visit).

Tip: if you want to be close to the harbour, choose Bergen.Works (5–7 minutes to Vågen) or rooms at Media City with panoramic windows — there are many of them in the atrium. And always keep a raincoat handy: the local weather is changeable and likes to turn on suddenly.

The formula is simple: for a ‘long’ day and late access, get a membership at Regus/Spaces in Media City (Bybanen is right outside the door), and for Saturday and Sunday, play it safe with Scandic Coworking. You will find lockers at Spaces in MCB, and if you need to transfer your luggage, the city's storage networks will take care of it.

Plan your trips ‘from stop to stop’ and don't be afraid of rain: a good raincoat plus the right location will ensure a calm and productive working week in the harbour.

I am 32, and every day I fall in love with Norway anew – a country where fog glides across the fjords as casually as conversations in a village café. My school…
