ποΈ Trondheim: Orientation Week NTNU and accommodation/sports Sit
π Orientation Week at NTNU
Every August, NTNU holds Orientation Week β a whole week for new students. It usually takes place in the second week of August (for example, 11β15 August).
What participants can expect:
β Buddy groups: meeting mentors and other newcomers.
β Campus tours: libraries, laboratories, IT services.
β Social events: concerts, festivals, student fairs.
β Integration: lectures on life in Norway, UDI rules, working while studying.
π Tip: don't try to attend all activities. Choose the most important ones (campus tour and buddy group meetings), the rest is a bonus.
π Sit housing
Sit (Studentsamskipnaden i GjΓΈvik, Γ lesund og Trondheim) manages student housing, sports and services in Trondheim.
β Priority: international students and first-year students.
β Waiting list: demand is high in the summer, so apply at least 4β5 months in advance.
β Options: from dorm rooms to family flats.
β Renewal: you can renew your contract online in your Sit account.
π Tip: if you missed the main move-in period, use the Roof Over Your Head service (see below).
ποΈ Sports and mental health support
Sit offers a wide range of options:
β Sports: gyms, swimming pool, climbing wall, group classes.
β Mental health support: counselling, stress management courses.
β Social initiatives: student clubs, evening activities.
A Sit membership is cheaper than private fitness clubs in the city.
ποΈ Temporary accommodation: Roof Over Your Head
If you haven't found a room by August, Sit launches the Roof Over Your Head programme.
β This is temporary accommodation (a few days or weeks).
β Usually, accommodation is provided in shared rooms or hostels.
β It is important to keep an eye on the announcements on the Sit website β places are limited.
