This is the best way to get the most out of your trip and reach places that no tourist boat can go. We've lovingly crafted the perfect three-day itinerary just for you, filled with recommendations for the best places to stop, eat and stay. Get ready for the trip of a lifetime!
Day 1: Geiranger — Seven Sisters Waterfall — Skagefjord
The distance is about 10 km, which should take around 4–5 hours if you stop to rest and have a little chat!
Start: You'll find the lovely Geiranger village just a short walk away, where you can easily rent kayaks right there on the spot.
After 3 km, you'll arrive at the Seven Sisters waterfall, a beautiful sight to behold. The waterfall is a sight to behold, with streams of water falling from a height of 250 metres. Why not stop for a while and take some photos, while enjoying the beautiful view from the water?
Then, if you keep going for another 3 km, you'll arrive at the lovely abandoned Skageflå farm, tucked away on a pretty cliff. You're welcome to leave your kayaks here, and then walk for about 20 minutes to a viewpoint where you'll get a breathtaking panoramic view of the fjord.
We really hope you enjoy your stay, so we've left you with some handy information about where to pitch your tent. You're more than welcome to set up your tent in the designated areas by the water near Skageflå farm. Don't forget to bring a tent, sleeping bag and gas stove so you can enjoy a delicious dinner under the open sky!
Here's a little life hack with a big smile: remember to pack your waterproof clothing, because you're in for a wet treat as the waterfalls are guaranteed to splash you!
Day 2: Skageflå — Knivsflå farm — Hellesilt village
The distance is about 12–14 km, which should take around 5–6 hours with stops.
After breakfast, why not head along the fjord to Knivsflå Farm, located opposite the Seven Sisters? The farm is well-known for its beautiful view of the Bridal Veil waterfall, which is also really famous. It's the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a delicious picnic while taking in the breathtaking views.
Then, we'll head to the lovely village of Hellesylt, one of the cosiest places in the fjord. Hey, I totally get it, you're just looking for a few shops and cafés to stock up on essentials, right? And of course, you want to make sure you've got enough water. Well, you've come to the right place!
Accommodation: Welcome to Hellesylt Camping! We've got everything you need for a comfortable stay, including showers, a kitchen, and a place for tents.
Hey, just a heads-up: you can recharge your phones and cameras in Hellesylt, so make sure you take advantage of this great opportunity!
Day 3: Hellesylt — Geiranger village
The distance is about 18 km, which should take around 6 hours with stops.
On the last day, you'll return to the charming village of Geiranger, where you can relax and enjoy the peaceful waters and breathtaking panoramic views of the majestic cliffs and mountains. Why not treat yourself to a well-deserved break at the beautiful Lundeneset beach? It's the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a delicious snack.
As you go, you might get to see some lovely wild animals, like seals and white-tailed eagles. Hey, why not bring your binoculars along? That way you can get a closer look at all the amazing wildlife.
When you return to Geiranger, you've just got to check out the local cafés and try the delicious fresh waffles with jam and Norwegian brown cheese.
Here's a little secret: if you can, try to start your trip on the last day in the early morning. You'll find the water much calmer and the views more vibrant!
Here are some handy food tips to help you on your journey!
We really want you to be your best self, so we recommend that you try eating light, nutritious food like dried fruit, nuts, energy bars, freeze-dried meals and fresh fruit. And don't worry about your water supply, you can fill up in the clean mountain streams (just make sure you have a filter or purification tablets). And don't forget to bring a gas burner to make hot tea or coffee in the evening and in the morning — this is especially important for cool Norwegian nights.
