🚴‍♂️ Rallarvegen by bike: the legendary route through the Norwegian mountains and fjords 🏔️

Rallerveien is a famous road that was built over 100 years ago to serve the Oslo-Bergen railway. Today, it is one of Norway's most beautiful and popular cycling routes, passing through high mountain areas, glacial lakes and fjords. We have prepared a detailed guide to make your trip as comfortable, safe and unforgettable as possible. Get ready for an amazing adventure!

Where does the route start and how do I get there?

The route usually starts in the mountain village of Finse. You can easily get there by train from Oslo or Bergen. It takes about 4 hours from Oslo and 2 hours from Bergen. You can rent bikes directly at Finse station, but it is better to book them online in advance.

Important: the Rallervegen season is short, usually from mid-July to early September. Make sure you book your bike and accommodation in advance!

Here is some general information about the route.

  • The distance from Finse to FlĂĽm is about 80 kilometres.
  • The journey takes between two and three days, with plenty of time to rest.
  • The route is not too difficult. Most of the way is downhill, with only a few small hills. It is suitable for cyclists of all abilities.
  • The roads are mainly gravel and dirt, with some asphalt.

  • The village of FlĂĽm: the final stop on the route with numerous cafĂŠs, shops and the famous fjord.
  • We recommend trying the local cider or Norwegian waffles with brown cheese in one of the cafĂŠs on the waterfront.
