๐๐ ฟ๏ธ Bompenge and parking: how much does a car really cost in the city
A city car is so much more than just fuel, insurance and servicing! It's great to see that Bompenge (toll gates) and parking become a significant part of the TCO, especially for office days and regular trips to the city centre. We are delighted to present the following interactive inserts: a tariff reference guide, a parking and parking calculator and a sample bill. All values are marked as DEMO โ they can be replaced with actual values in the admin panel.
๐ง How toll gates work
The essence is simple: when crossing the "rings"/gates, a tariff is charged, which may vary depending on the time of day and type of car. AutoPASS participants receive a discount, and in some cities there is a monthly cap. Intra-city habits (driving into the city centre, dropping off children, sports, shopping) add "extra" crossings โ it is important to consider not only commuting.

๐ ฟ๏ธ Resident parking: subscription vs hourly
Resident parking is the right to park in an area, not a guaranteed space. The cost varies by area, and hourly parking in the centre can quickly add up. There may be a discount for EVs โ factor this in as a percentage.

All values in the inserts are DEMO for layout purposes: substitute the actual parameters for your city and vehicle, and double-check the cap, discounts, and rates before making any decisions.
FAQ
Yes. Even if you only spend 1โ2 days at the office and rarely visit the city centre, regular gate crossings and hourly parking add up to a significant amount. Enter your actual "non-work" trips into the calculator โ this is often the hidden half of the bill.
Significantly, if the proportion of peak trips is high. The peak rate is multiplied by a coefficient, so when you change your schedule to "shifted" (earlier/later), bompenge sometimes drops by tens of percent. In the calculator, this is controlled by the "% during peak hours" slider.
Often yes, but not always and not everywhere to the same extent. We have included an "EV multiplier" and a parking discount as parameters. Enable the EV profile to see how the gate rate and total bill change.
No. It is the right to park in the area with a subscription. Competition is higher in the centre: sometimes it is worth considering a work subscription, Park&Ride or a combination with PT/bike so as not to overpay for "circles" in search of a place.
The cap is good news: the amount will not increase any further. But if you hit the cap almost every month, it is worth reviewing your routes: use PT more often on peak travel days, combine errands into one trip, or store your car outside of expensive areas.
Consider this: with a stable 4โ5 days a week, a subscription is often cheaper. With 1โ2 days, hourly parking saves money. Switch the mode in the calculator ("hourly/subscription") and compare the results.
Different routes, departure times, peak hours, resident parking zones, AutoPASS availability, and car type. Even an "extra" trip to the city centre on the weekend can significantly change the result. Our inserts calculate your specific scenario.
The result from the calculator is the "mandatory city" payments for a car. Add fuel/charging, insurance, servicing, tyres and depreciation to get the full TCO. Use the appropriate calculators to compare with PT and car sharing.
