💼☕ Workation day: a day at the "office away from home" without unnecessary expenses
A few days out of the office each week is the best thing ever! You get to enjoy some fresh air and a change of scenery. The only thing to watch out for is your budget, but that's easy enough – just make sure you plan ahead. Check out the awesome breakdown of the components of the daily budget below! You'll also find an interactive calculator for calculating the daily and monthly budget for N days, presets for Oslo/Bergen/Trondheim, and money-saving life hacks. I'm thrilled to tell you that all inserts are coded and adapted for mobile devices!
🧾 Receipt components
A workation day usually consists of 5 blocks:
- Coworking/day pass (or multi-pass for N days),
- Transport (PAYG or share of travel card; if the travel card has already been paid for — incremental cost is zero),
- Coffee and snacks,
- Lunch,
After-work (sauna/sports/cinema/museum) and small items.

📍 Oslo/Bergen/Trondheim: examples with presets
● Oslo (DEMO). An 8–10-day multi-pass is often beneficial if you travel ≥ 2 days/week. If you already need a travel pass for other purposes, transport on workation days can be considered zero.
● Bergen (DEMO). Rain and windy weather often necessitate public transport, so if you don't travel much, it's more cost-effective to pay per trip and bring lunch from home.
● Trondheim (DEMO). There are many student discounts: check for "student prices" for coworking and sports — this will significantly reduce your bill.
Click "Insert preset" in the calculator — the values will be filled in automatically and the final amounts will be recalculated.
💡 Money-saving life hacks
● Coworking multi-pass. For ≥ 6–8 days/month, a multi-pass is often cheaper than a day pass.
● Transport without surprises. If you don't travel much, use PAYG and don't buy a travel card for just a couple of days. If you travel every day anyway, mark "travel card already paid for" in the calculator.
● Coffee to go and refills. A thermos mug and places with refills reduce your coffee bill by a third or more.
● Lunch box. A homemade lunch is the quickest way to save money without compromising on quality.
● After-work without overspending. Plan one paid activity per day; the rest should be free activities (walking, park, waterfront).
