🏔️ Changes are coming: new lifts and slopes for winter 2025/26

The new ski season is always a time of anticipation and excitement, but winter 2025/26 is going to be extra special for fans of Norwegian slopes. Three of the country's most popular resorts are gearing up for some incredible upgrades that are going to make for an even more amazing experience, with better comfort and top-notch skiing quality. We can't wait to tell you all about the exciting changes we're making and how they'll enhance your holiday experience.

🎿Narvikfjellet is getting a new gondola and slopes to get it ready for the 2029 World Championships.

The biggest news of the season comes from Narvik: the Narvikfjellet ski resort is opening a new high-speed gondola, the Narvik Gondola 2025. The launch is planned for mid-December, just before the Christmas holidays.

The gondola will take you up to 1,006 metres in just 8 minutes — twice as fast as the old lifts. Tourists, who often complained about long queues and slow lifts in previous seasons, are looking forward to this event. People are already talking about how handy and nice the new panoramic cabins are, and about the two new slopes, on forums and Instagram.

  • The Fjordløypa (blue slope, 3.2 km) is a great choice for families and anyone who likes to take it easy on the slopes.
  • Nordlys (red trail, 4.5 km) is the resort's new star. It has amazing turns and fantastic views of the Narvik Fjord.

A Reddit forum user who visited last year writes:

Last season, it took 20 minutes to get to the top during rush hour. I can't wait for the new gondola — it'll get us to the top faster, so I'll have more time to ski and take photos of the fjord!'

Here's some advice from our experts:

🎟️ Book your ski passes online in advance to get 15–20% off the full price. You'll also avoid the queues at the ticket office on the first days of the new gondola's opening.

🎿 Hemsedal: the Fjellheisen express chairlift will change everything.

There are also going to be big changes at Hemsedal, a popular place for people who are just starting to learn to snowboard or ski. A new six-seater chairlift, the Fjellheisen Express, will open here at the end of November. Thanks to increased speed and capacity, you won't have to wait as long, even on popular dates like Christmas, New Year and the February holidays.

There are lots of discussions on the Tripadvisor forums about last year's queues:

"Hemsedal is a great place to ski, but the lifts get very busy on public holidays. At last, the people in charge of the resort have listened to what we were asking for!"

Here's a tip for you:

🏨 Book your apartment at Alpin Lodge Hemsedal this summer to stay as close as possible to the new lift — they sell out quickly.

Trysil is getting a bigger snow park – perfect for people who like to do tricks.

Trysil is making its fans very happy with a big improvement to its popular snow park: Trysil Snowpark Expansion. In the new season, the park will be almost a third bigger and will have an extra chairlift and two T-bar lifts.

People who often go to the resort and who complained that the park was too busy at the weekend are now happily posting about it on Instagram and YouTube.

Trysil is doing it again! Now we won't have to wait in line for hours just to do a few tricks in the park. I can't wait for it to open!'

Our recommendation: 🎿 The new infrastructure will attract even more attention, so visit the park early in the morning (from 9:00 to 11:00) when the slopes are still free and perfectly groomed.

🚠 Booking and saving tips and tricks

Are you planning a holiday at one of the renovated resorts? Here are some tips to help you save money and avoid problems:

  • 📆 Book in advance. If you're planning a trip during New Year or February, it's best to book no later than the end of summer.
  • 💳 Buy ski passes online. You can get up to 20% off if you book online in advance.
  • 🚗 Watch out for roadworks. New ski lifts can put extra pressure on roads and car parks. You can take public transport or choose a place to stay where you can ski right outside.
  • 📱 Use the resort's app. Information on the slopes and queues is updated all the time.

New ski slopes need skiers and snowboarders to be prepared. Here is what experienced riders recommend:

  • 🔋 Powerbank (batteries drain quickly in cold weather).
  • 🥶 Wear a buff or balaclava (the wind on the new high-altitude lifts can be very cold).
  • 🧤 Spare gloves (the first pair may get wet).
  • 🕶️ A high-quality mask that lets in plenty of air (new slopes mean high speeds and more wind).

📸 The best places to take selfies this season: photos on the new ski lifts

Make sure you take some great photos to remember your trip. The best places to take photos this season are:

  • This is the view of the fjord from the new Narvik gondola.
  • Fjellheisen is located in Hemsedal, where you can see amazing views of the mountains.
  • The Trysil snow park is now bigger, with bright figures and professional riders doing tricks in the air.

The brand-new lifts and slopes in Narvikfjellet, Hemsedal and Trysil are going to completely transform the winter holiday experience in Norway! Tourists are going to love this: more speed, more comfort and fewer queues! Follow our tips and be the first to try out all the new features this season – you won't want to miss out!
